Softr is a no-code platform for building client portals, internal tools, member directories, and data-driven web applications using Airtable or Google Sheets as the backend database. It is positioned between Glide (mobile-first, spreadsheet-based) and Bubble (full-featured, complex) — offering more web design flexibility than Glide and much less complexity than Bubble for data portal use cases.
The platform provides a library of pre-built page blocks (hero sections, list views, detail pages, forms, tables, calendars, maps) that connect directly to your Airtable base or Google Sheet, filtering and displaying records based on user permissions and logged-in user identity. This enables member-only portals where each user sees only their own data, client portals where agencies share project status with clients, or team directories where staff can find and message each other.
The free plan allows unlimited pages but limits internal users to 5 and external users to 100, which is functional for small team tools and pilot projects. Business plans start at $49/month for larger user bases. Payment integration (Stripe), user authentication, email notifications, and PDF exports are all supported without code. Softr is primarily optimized for the Airtable ecosystem — Google Sheets works but with less feature support, and other data sources (SQL databases, REST APIs) require Airtable as an intermediary via Zapier or Make, which adds complexity.
